Why do we like this?

The Brooklyn-based psychedelic pop group Ackerman caught my attention in 2017 with their last full length record, The Orion Pact. The originality, instrumental coordination, and power behind their sound blew me away. So, naturally I was going to give their new single a proper listen.

Released just a couple weeks ago, "Lover Boy" took me by surprise. The compressed drum track and its rugged transition into that chest-smacking rhythm goes hand in hand with the group's high pitched vocals. But it's the layering that really takes this track from good to great. Muted guitar riffs, background clapping, and all around driving percussion converge into a wall of noisy fun.

Seriously, if this group isn't on your radar yet, it's time to take a listen.
