It's been more than a year since we last covered a track by Absofacto, so to mark his return I figured we'd honor him with the top slot as today's Song of the Day.
Some of you might remember the Michigan-based artist as the former lead singer of Mason Proper, one of my favorite bands of the late 2000's. Over the years he's had his fingers in a number of honey pots (including Hollow & Akimbo), which explains the lull in new releases from Absofacto.
Fortunately, Jon decided to get back on the path to making new music for the project, and "History Books" is the result. He describes it as a relatively simple song, though for me a major aspect that differentiates his style is an atypical approach to melody-writing. This song stands out as no exception.
