Looks like Christmas will come early for contemporary classical fans -- a second studio album from A Winged Victory For The Sullen is nearly here!
I must say it's an intense return -- reflective music inspired originally as a score for Wayne Wayne McGregor (resident choreographer at the Royal Ballet, known for his thought-provoking pieces with neoclassical stars such as Max Richter). The 11 pieces are all brilliant: typical fare from collaborators Adam Bryanbaum Willtzie and Dustin O’Halloran.
This track (released in April) is definitely one of my favorites. A slow yet steady violin build-up peaking midway with dense ambient noise. Kinda feels like watching a tranquil sunset.
The album will be released on double vinyl along with digital download come early October. Pre-order available on lovely label Erased Tapes' website.
