Why do we like this?

It's a strange situation when I don't think a 17-year-old musician creating fantastic music is an oddity, but the youngsters just keep popping up. Today's subject is Brisbane's Faith Ty, who has been making tunes under the moniker Cypher for the past couple of years.

Today we've been given the opportunity to premiere her latest single, a collaboration she's put together with up-and-coming producer Golden Vessel. "Pretend" is a pretty impressive offering; Cypher's gentle vocals are supported by the most dreamy production I've heard in a while. This type of music done poorly can be very boring, but this couldn't be further from the truth on this track -- it's engaging from start to finish.

I'm very much looking forward to hearing the follow-up to this song, and I'm sure I won't be alone in that opinion.
