Why do we like this?
I hesitate to throw a label like "best of" around ever, especially when it comes to music. With that said, two releases have shown themselves to me as contenders for "best of"' recognition this year. The first is Tourist's Tonight EP, which features the striking "I Have No Fear." The second is Recolor, a shimmering showcase of Russian bass music from 813.
I hyped 813's "Elastique" about a month a half ago. Go ahead and open that link up in a new tab so you're ready for more awesomeness in a few minutes. Right now, though, it's time for the eternal ascent that is "The Whaler."
Hadn't heard of Russian indie-rock duo On-The-Go before, but holy shit do they work well together with 813. Blast this in the car, in your headphones, or on your biggest boom box. Just let "The Whaler" be heard. It's one of many reasons you should check out Recolor.
