It hasn't been a great year for 50 Cent. From filing for bankruptcy to his petty on going feud with Rick Ross, he's been in the news for all the wrong reasons. Thankfully, the surprise release of his mixtape The Kanan Tape has put him back in the spotlight for all the right reasons.
The 7-track digital download finds 50 experimenting with his tried and tested sound, roping in a stack of up-and-coming artists and producers with great results. The highlight for mine comes halfway through the tape on the Post Malone assisted "Tryna Fuck Me Over."
Produced by Scoop Deville with a beat recalling his massive hit "Candy Shop," 50 delivers lines in his regular drawl, but it's the appearance of Malone that impresses. Rapping at a rapid pace, Malone echoes 50's sentiments, reflecting on his rise to fame and those trying to get in his way.
