Why do we like this?
I've got to be honest and let you know that I'm not a huge 2 Chainz fan. While he's great for a feature or a hook, his 2012 debut Based On A T.R.U. Story failed to impress, and he looked headed for the scrap heap. How wrong could I have been?
Teaming up with some of the biggest and freshest names in the business (Kanye West, A$AP Rocky, Drake and Lil' Wayne, to name a few) has seen 2 Chainz's star rise, so much so that he can even afford to get Pharrell on a track.
While Pharrell isn't as prevalent as I'd like, his smooth and soulful vocals slide their way throughout "Feds Watching" while 2 Chainz puts in a surprisingly fluid flow. The island-esque beats suit the Southern rapper's style, lifting "Feds Watching" above 2 Chainz usual drugs and women rap output.
