Zebo is one of Chicago's finest local DJs, whose craftsmanship is beyond most of his peers. His persistence is driven by his musical prevalence, which means that he is constantly exploring and experimenting.
When DJing became steadily mainstream and more about PJ'n (Playlist Jockey'n), it felt as if the genre had turned into button pounding laser shows and "raise the roof" hand gestures. The purity that stemmed from the DJ's spiritual guidance of the audience seemed lost. You could see said DJ on tour, and their sets were eerily similar from city to city; a queasy attribute for a profession driven by technological advancements in personal computing and digital music production.
From bass to trap to house to two-step, Zebo cannot be pigeonholed into bass wonky genres or pop-oriented frivolity. He simply is dope, in the broadest sense of the word. He keeps imagining and producing soundscapes we can only fantasize about. Check out this brand new track, "Twinflame," readied for the new year. It will make you want to search out that old Ecco the Dolphin cartridge and get DOWN.
