Why do we like this?
Zambri, consisting of sisters Cristi Jo and Jessica Zambri, has been threading through music blogs for awhile now, exposing little ears to their brazen sounds. Their House of Baasa release has encompassed previous releases (such as "ICBYS," "Places" and "Hundred Hearts"), while also introducing new variances to thier initial gifts of song and adding to their repitour.
Their sound is haunting. Comprised of thrashing wails of meaningful lyrics laced with enough reverb to have them blend with the instruments, its the perfect soundtrack to a dimly lit, fear-inspiring evening.
The two sisters write and produce completely on their own. Only through much planning and arrangement can they transfer their music into a live performance. Outfitting their own tri-microphone necklace and keyboard upon keyboard, they relay the same feeling of melodic dischord and harmony that trifles with your senses, blending it with the beauty of watching these two ladies rally around stage.
"ICBYS" itself is one of the most potent songs of the release. The strict drum echos and accusing voices give off a chilly hauntingness that you wont even notice until it's shooed about two minutes in, when it breaks down to a winding drool of chimes and hymns, and then progresses gracefully into the rest of the album.
