As if I haven't shared enough Valley Maker songs..
But seriously these guys are just ridiculous, and if I'm left to my own devices their whole When I Was A Childalbum will soon be on Indie Shuffle.
In a world where albums are becoming slowly redundant (or maybe that's just my world), it is so nice to be entirely captured by a collection of 12 beautifully crafted, well written songs -- every one of which tug at your heartstrings.
Title track "When I was A Child" seems as though songwriter Austin Crane is grappling with the idea of simply accepting everything he was told is good in the world -- indeed, themes which are recurring throughout the album (listen to "Goodness"). Subtle church bells ringing throughout the track hint towards a religious undertone, perhaps serving to offer a deeper understanding of the lyrics.
"When I was growing up
I tried to have my fun I tried to hurt no one My mind got stuck It split and it sunk So I gave it up I gave it up"
They are just as captivating live, peep the video below:

With e...

The first 30 seconds of "Dustbowl" had me thinking "This is nice," and then Ben Smolin's voice reaches a higher pitch and becomes deeper in emotion, and I thought, "This is serious." Ben and Alison Smolin's stories coalesce and echo the sentiment, "I...
