R3 remixes this anthem into a soundscape of lush beats, vocals chopped and slowed to a syrupy sweetness — I think this is the sexiest TLC remix to date. The breakdown even features a sample from Skyrim (which R3, aka Reggie, and I geeked out to one boring winter). Gamer trivia aside, this is a remix for bumpin' and grindin'.
R3, or Reggie Ba-Pe III, is a Burmese-born Australian music producer, remixer, and DJ living in Shanghai. He's the co-founder of S.T.D., a creative collective and party revelation that's introduced international artists such as Shigeto, Digitalism, and Nosaj Thing to China. He's written music for Luis Vutton, Converse, Rayban — the list goes on — and he's remixed Björk, Yacht, Adam Freeland, and now TLC. From event to curation to production, R3 does music right. There were rumors of a remix album, and I'm hoping for an EP in the near future.
