Just over a month ago I shared The Tongue's first single from his upcoming album, "You Got Me" featuring Mataya. Today he returns once more with a fresh second helping -- and it's as intriguing as the first, not to mention remarkably different.
"Never Going Down" opens on light synths and a bulging bass. The rhythm caught me off guard at first, with far more of a trap-influenced beat and flow than I'd expected -- but I love it. Once again The Tongue is lyrically dense, with a compelling flow through every verse.
The track features Sydney-based artist Ngaiire, an absolute legend in her own right. Her uniquely full, rich vocals serve as the perfect padding behind The Tongue's verses, and, towards the end, totally steals the show. This is another really impressive offering from the Sydney artist -- I'm looking forward to hearing more.
"Never Going Down" features on The Tongue's fourth album, set to drop later this year via Elefant Traks/Inertia.
