Movie Soundtrack: The Saint

Have you ever daydreamed about being a jet-setting, high tech industrial thief? Then you know that every high-tech thief needs a kick ass 90s electronic-filled soundtrack, and you’ve probably seen the movie The Saint multiple times.

Starring Val Kilmer, The Saint is the story of Simon Templar, an orphan who makes himself into one of the world’s most elite criminals (the character is based upon the popular 1960s television show starring Roger Moore, who makes a vocal appearance at the end of the movie).

Simon gets mixed up with a billionaire Russian industrialist who he stole from, and ends up having to use all of his master thief skills to survive. Of course, through it all he falls in love with a beautiful cold-fusion scientist (played by Elisabeth Shue) and ends up outwitting all of his enemies.

As for the music, The Saint soundtrack embodies all that was going on in the world of electronic music at the tail end of the 90s; it’s filled with many of the pioneers who helped make the genre popular, like Daft Punk, The Chemical Brothers, and Underworld. And who could forget the Sneaker Pimps with their song “6 Underground”?

So, if you don’t have the time or resources of a world-class criminal, at least you can enjoy some of the tracks that made Val Kilmer seem so cool.
