If there's one theme that I can't get enough of in the movies, it's the awkwardness of high school. It's hard enough figuring out who you are without having to deal with the pressures of being sixteen, and this is something that still resonates with me today. Enter Charlie (Played by Logan Lerman) in the 2012 film The Perks of Being a Wallflower.
Based on the book of the same name, and written and directed by Stephen Chbosky, The Perks Of Being a Wallflower follows the coming-of-age tale of Charlie. Charlie is a shy but incredibly smart high school freshmen who is having a rough time making friends at school. It's never a good sign when your closest "friend" at school is your English teacher, even if he is played by Paul Rudd. Charlie finally manages to make friends with Sam and Patrick, two seniors who happen to be step-siblings (played by Emma Watson and Ezra Miller). As Charlie falls for Sam, he finally begins to feel comfortable in his own skin through some acting, a forced relationship with a control freak, and learning how to be a friend.
