The New Royales is a multi-faceted music production collective. A group of writers, producers and musicians, they are best known for the collaborations their members -- DJ Khalil, Chin Injeti, Liz Rodrigues, Erik Alcock -- have had with high profiles artists like 50 Cent, Eminem, Jay Electronica and The Clipse.
This collective has always been intriguing and it's great to see them releasing some of their own work, even if this particular song is a cover. According to the group:
This collective has always been intriguing and it's great to see them releasing some of their own work, even if this particular song is a cover. According to the group:
"Today" from their upcoming mixtape 'Freedom's For the Brave' has The New Royales paying homage to the original version by Jefferson Airplane, Tom Scott's cover and the classic hip-hop track that sampled it "They Reminise Over You" by legends Pete Rock and CL Smooth. From 1967 to 1992 to 2012 it's been a total of 45 years that this song has endured and remained a classic in various forms. We hope you enjoy The New Royales version of "Today" as it pays homage to those that came before it.
