My palms get sweaty at the thought of The Chain Gang of 1974’s Kamtin Mohager. Well, his music anyway. I have been tangled in a long love affair with Chain Gang since I first heard "Hold On." It's a forever favorite.
I actually believe Mohager has been stealthily casing the music industry with his electro-indiepop angst and colorless Instagram posts for some time. When he steals it all, don't say I didn't warn you.
Chain Gang’s third LP is in the works, and to hold us lovers over is "Teenage Wrist," a side project of Mohager, featuring Marshall Gallagher and Anthony Salazar.
The group’s debut EP 'Dazed' dropped back in May, but is just now available on vinyl for a limited time. If you like wrapping your fingers on something tangible, here is your chance.
“Afterglow” is one of the band’s two singles, and after a hundred plays I admittedly can’t decide what late 90s act parallels their sound. The heavy reverb; Mohager’s aching, aggressive voice; and their dreamy lyrics are all familiar, but unplaceable. This is not a problem, just a personal frustrating observation.
This album a must for your indie collection of gems. Grab it and don't let go. We'll keep you updated as soon as we hear what's next.
