Why do we like this?

Today's headlines have been monopolized by Taylor Swift, or rather Ryan Adams covering Taylor Swift.

But here, ladies and gentlemen, we have Father John Misty covering Ryan Adams covering Taylor Swift, while channeling the Velvet Underground. 

I think some strange shenanigans are going on here. A musicians' game of the Justin Timberlake/Jimmy Fallon nonsense that warms our hearts and makes us uncontrollably smirk.

This song is a grittier, un-sung version of the blonde bombshell's track off her album "1989." If you don't like Swift's version or Adam's version, maybe this is the track for you.
