It's been a week since the hustle of SXSW and I'm barely overcoming withdrawal. Many a friendly foreigner asked me during the fest if I strongly disliked all the enthusiastic strangers invading my town. Well, I didn't. I loved it.
Austin is a beautiful foundation of a city, with a lovely skyline, charming natural scenery and scrumptious, locally owned eateries, but the landscape lights up during SX and the economy booms. Yes, the seemingly unchecked growth of the fest is a bit distressing, but there is nothing more compelling as a music-lover and traveler than walking down your city's creative corridors experiencing free show after free show with old friends and fast friends from across the world.
I thrive on catching live acts in somewhat intimate venues, some of them being globally-touring musicians who have been on a
personal must-see list or even better, some of them being delightful surprises. This post is dedicated to the latter, 10 acts from electronic to pop to folk, who I happily stumbled upon or made mental note to remember after the fest
