While there have been numerous shows on TV about dysfunctional families, rarely have their been shows about crazy families which featured great soundtracks. One of these oddities is NBC's Parenthood.
Based upon the 1980's Steve Martin movie of the same title, Parenthood is a peek into the lives of the very extended Braverman family. The Bravermans are an involved, in each others lives type of family, centered around four grown-up siblings Adam (played by Peter Krause), Sarah (played by Lauren Graham), Crosby (played by Dax Shepard), and Julie (played by Erika Christensen). All of them are all trying to manage their own families while dealing with their parents (played by Craig T. Nelson and Bonnie Bedelia).
Throughout the first six episodes of Parenthood Season 1, it is apparent how different the four siblings are, as Adam is a very successful businessman, Sarah was married to a drug addict musician and recently moved back in with ther parents, Crosby is an unmarried music producer, and Julia is a workaholic lawyer.
Just as diversity can be found within the Braverman family tree, such is the case of the soundtrack of Parenthood. The background music to the lives of this family include some great folk jams by Grizzly Bear and The Avett Brothers to a groovy, reggae influenced remix of Miike Snow's "Animal."
