These days I've become extremely picky about what I'll listen to, let alone post onto Indie Shuffle. With so much music hitting my inbox, I'm admittedly spoiled and snobbish. I guess you can say I was happy to learn we aren't posting premieres anymore.
It's with great pleasure and surprise that I come across this Ian William Craig track from 10 months ago, a bone chilling remix of Snow Ghosts "Circles Out Of Salt" that immediately reminded me of early Zola Jesus. (Requiem for Nika Roza Danilova?)
Ian William Craig is a musician and visual artist who puts together piano and tape improvisations -- what he describes as "collapsing answers, billowing clouds of erasure." Altogether it's a soothing and disturbing experimental/industrial sound that you ought to let secrete out of your speakers, preferably with the afternoon light drifting through a side window, leaving shimmers of sunlight. Trained in opera, the vocals are the real winner here.
Last month someone commented on Ian William Craig's last.fm page that they were "late to the party but this is outstanding". Yes, you are late to this party. Still, join us.
