Why do we like this?
Mmm, some abstract hip-hop inspired by Reggio/Glass's Koyaanisqatsi. I'm digging its glitched up, warped out feel.
similarobjects is Jorge Juan B. Wieneke V, a 22-year-old beatmaker/experimental artist from the Philippine Islands. He says he produces electronic tracks that are influenced by the avant garde, the weird. This track is a testament to that. His monicker is both a reference to Carl Jung's theory of collective consciousness and the Russian Matryoshka doll. Deep.
For the less abstract variety, check out his super chilled out version of Mariah's Heartbreaker on Majestic Casual. By now, you should know if someone covers Mariah, then I'll be giving them props. Come on, admit it, there's nothing better than Mariah out there. That track, at only two and a half minutes, is definitely like the doll, a deep, glitchy edit of HeartBreaker that keeps unpacking to show off some synth here, some beats there. It comes off the album dreamspell, which is just some "old beats and throwaways, quick edits, brain farts and dream snippets." You can buy it for 2 bucks. Worthy.
