So this is not an actual Shlohmo production. Well, technically it is; he made the track "Sink," but Nate James, a young graphic artist out of the Toledo, Ohio, took the liberty of mashing the Shlohmo track alongside a clip of the illustrious Alan Watts. It works well. So well, in fact, that James did an entire project blending poignant bits of wisdom from the counter-culture thinker with modern compositions from our own "beat" generation.
I've been listening to the project continuously for the past week or so and have been struck with how well the music fits the mood and theme of Watts' East-meets-West musings. Ideal for an extended trip, a hazy late night alone or moments when you might need a friend with none in sight, A Series of Waves is a free project that is intimate and touching in a rare way.
