Portland, Oregon is banging out a plethora of different bands these days, and today we have Shadows On Stars and their video for their track "Punk Kids."
The video is simple: this kid is a black sheep. He does what he wants and isn't taking after his highly accomplished family... so therefore he's a "punk kid." The song is grungey, mocking, and bitter. It's not too complex of a song -- you've got a solo guitar, off-kilter drums, and summoning vocals just telling it like it is.
Mostly, it's an homage to all of those people who have ever looked down on you for not conforming and being a sheep. It's obvious that Shadows On Stars is doing their own thing and not giving a fuck and for that, many kudos.
If you're feeling Shadows On Stars' post-punk, industrial synth rock vibe, keep your eyes and ears peeled for their full-length, set to release this year. And if you like a mix of different sub-genres, you're in luck because "Punk Kids" is only one kind of sound that this band can pull off. Stay tuned!
