I love it when you think a band has reached their peak and then realize they're still on the way up. This sentiment has been true on a number of occasions with Melbourne band Second Hand Heart, who have frequented our site over the past couple of years. Soon to release their debut album, Tides, the five-piece have already previewed two singles to date, "Spending My Time" and "Hold On."
Newest single "Damnesia" is one of the most darkly beautiful songs I've ever heard. It's a drifting, languid soundscape that focusses heavily on gentle piano arrangement and the band's standout vocals. A song written late at night, it explores space, sleep, and dreams -- and does so in a way that draws the listener in.
Tides will be released on May 2, and it will definitely be an album worth setting aside some time to listen to.
