Why do we like this?
Schoolboy Q might not be getting the plaudits of fellow Black Hippy member Kendrick Lamar, but his major label debut Oxymoron is one of my most anticipated hip-hop releases of the year. Q's already sent tongues wagging with the drug dealing tale "Yay Yay," and has another newbie doing the rounds, the head nodding "Hell Of A Night."
Leaked on live television during game three of the playoffs between Miami and Indian, Q was quick to point out on Twitter that while not the final version, he was pretty chuffed the NAB chose to debut the track.
Produced by DJ Dahi, the man behind Kendrick Lamar's balling "Money Trees," "Hell Of A Night" is another upbeat trap meets West Coast number from one of hip-hop's rising stars. Q is on point with rapid fire delivery over an eerie vocal sample and snapping snares that has me salivating at hearing the final version.
