The first thing people notice about Denver native Rob Drabkin is his 70s style afro and ubiquitous grin. However, it’s his music that’s truly attention-grabbing, blending elements of rock, folk, and improvisational jam. “Hope in a Hopeless World” is off of Rob Drabkin’s latest album, Little Steps, which peaked at #3 on the Jambands Radio Chart.
A simple guitar carries the song against Rob’s vocals, giving “Hope in a Hopeless World” the suggestion of Eric Clapton during his acoustic period. Or, yeah, a better John Mayer cut, in other words. This is the kind of song you add to your road trip playlist, seizing the journey’s sense of possibility. “Hope in a Hopeless World” makes a similar kind of promise.
The song has already made its way into the honorable mention at the annual Telluride Bluegrass Festival’s Troubadour Competition.
