Scoop DeVille has an ongoing series of songs, mostly from non-rap songs, or 90's pop songs, that he's named Scoopaloops. From Hall and Oates to Adele and A-Ha, Scoop takes music that may otherwise be seen as soft and flips it on its head.
Recently, the project has become more official. Scoop joined with Travis Barker's Famous Stars and Straps to release a proper Scoopaloops Vol. 1 collection. The project is led by Scoop's reinterpretation of R.E.M.'s "Losing My Religion." The folk/alternative/pop hit from the 90's turns into a stadium rap/rock jam as Scoop swoops up Barker's drums and adds them to a magnanimous electronic backdrop. The result turns an intimate song anthemic. Travis Barker took to KROQ in LA to premiere the remix:
Travis Barker appeared on The Kevin and Bean show on the world famous KROQ 106.7 in Los Angeles and along with announcing four new Blink 182 shows in Los Angeles, he world premiered a brand new "Scoopaloop" single, R.E.M - "Losing My Religion" featuring Travis Barker & Produced by Scoop DeVille. Scoopaloops Vol. 1 release date November 12th 2013. It will be the first release on Scoop DeVille's new label imprint, Stalk Market Records. "Scoopaloops is a fun project for me because it's all multi-generational music I love and grew up on. We all love these records and the creative process is special for me. I love being able to introduce these timeless classics to my younger fans with a Scoop twist on them," said Scoop DeVille. "This is one of the featured tracks on the mixtape and it jams, I grew up on this song and to hear this rendition of it is pretty amazing," says Travis Barker.
The pair also released a video for the song, combining new edits of R.E.M.'s video with new footage, like Scoop and Barker in the studio recording drums for the remix.
