I’m going to count this as a SXSW discovery even if I didn’t see Postiljonen live.
On Friday night, right before every big SX showcase was about to open its doors to hundreds of hungry fans, a wicked lightning storm rolled over the city and threatened to ruin absolutely everything. Venues were evacuated, bars were on lockdown. Electricity forked across the sky.
Fellow Shuffler Austin Dixon and I were hunkered down in Icenhauer's on Rainey Street, sipping cocktails and striking up conversations with other patient (and dry) SX attendees.
All of a sudden I hear a song, this song, playing faintly overhead. I picked up my phone and bolted to the bathroom, arguably the only “quiet” place in the space. I held my phone up to the speaker and captured this sound.
I’d never heard of this Swedish dream pop trio before, and I’m smitten. A group that sounds like M83 AND Summer Heart? Are you kidding?
After all the wonderful noise over the past 10 days, I’m resting my weary, ringing ears on this sweetness.
Enjoy!
