Why do we like this?
I'm really diggin' Seattle-based Pocket Panda's first single called "Setting Sun" from their upcoming album This Arrangement of Molecules.
Speaking of molecules, the entire band is comprised of scientists with a combined 11 advanced degrees, including a PhD in molecular biology from front-man Eric Herbig. Not too shabby!
"Setting Sun" builds on an orchestrated sound of folksy flavors. It's not every day (at least, not for me) that you get to hear a mandolin, violin, piano, guitar, and drums all in one modern tune. Heck, I wouldn't be surprised if they've got a few more tricks up their sleeves on other songs (eg, a harmonica or an accordion).
This Arrangement of Molecules is set for release on April 14, 2015.
