While we pride ourselves on bringing you the freshest and best new music, every so often something slips through our fingers. There's a number of reasons that can happen -- for example, none of us hear it. That's pretty rare, though. Or, we simply forget. That appears to have been the case with Percussions "KHLHI."
Percussions is, of course, Kieran Hebden -- Four Tet to you or I. With Four Tet far too impatient to focus on just one genre or sound, he has been using the Percussions alias of late to get some of his new stuff out.
The standout track he has released as Percussions has to be "KHLHI." For the first couple of minutes, Four Tet simply plays with rhythms, making a nice, if fairly unexciting track. However, the surprise introduction of a sample -- Syreeta's "Keep Him Like He Is" -- gives the track a whole new meaning, filling it with soul and summertime energy.
