Why do we like this?
I've seen one or two blogs describe OnlyReal as a "rude boy." For those of you not in the know, I'll go ahead and quote the great resource known as Wikipedia:
If you're looking for artists that seem to embody this style, you'd probably need to look no further than King Krule or HughLoveHugh. Or...OnlyReal.
I stumbled upon this song a few minutes ago and found myself thoroughly digging the vibe. It's clearly not the artist's first release (he's got six tracks on his SoundCloud), but it does a pretty good job of capturing my attention.
Clearly I'm not alone in my observations, because his upcoming release is supported by Virgin EMI and Harvest Records. Those are pretty heavy hitters, and I have little doubt you'll be hearing more from OnlyReal in the near future.
The term rudeboy has become associated with street or urban culture, and is a common slang greeting. The term rudeboy has become associated with music genres such as Ragga, jungle, drum & bass, garage, grime, and dubstep.
