Why do we like this?
Reggae marvel Little Roy takes a classic grunge track and gives it some rocksteady flavor on this cover of Nirvana's "Come As You Are."
Hailing from Kingston, Jamaica, Little Roy has collaborated with fellow reggae champions Peter Tosh and Bunny Wailer, and can proudly claim the 1969 hit "Bongo Nyah" which paved the way for the Rastafarian jams of the 70's.
The double skank on this cover is groovy, and typical reggae harmonies will transport you to a calypso bar, sipping on rum at 4:20.
It gets better! There is an entire album available titled Battle For Seattle (a clear homage to the breeding ground of Nirvana's success), which includes covers off the albums Nevermind, Hormoaning and In Utero. Available for your pleasure and purchase via Ark Recordings.
