Miike Snow is returning after a three year hiatus with the upcoming release of the aptly named III. Weeks ago, they gave us a sneak peak with the album's first single "Heart is Full," and now they're giving us more with a remix featuring none other than rappers-of-the-moment Run The Jewels.
If it wasn't for the distinct vocals of Miike Snow's Andrew Wyatt and Run The Jewels' Killer Mike and El-P, we might think this was a new hit from the likes of Pretty Lights with its Nu Jazz vibe and chopped up soul music. The remix has completely turned the original version on its head, with Killer Mike and El-P's rhythmic beats layering perfectly on top of the trumpets and Wyatt's smooth melodies.
According to an interview with The FADER, Miike Snow got word that Run The Jewels were fans of the original version of "Heart Is Full" and knew that a collaboration needed to happen. Wyatt was worried that it might sound too retro, but the second that Killer Mike started with his rhythms, he couldn't stop smiling. We can't stop smiling either.
