Midi Matilda has been, unknowingly, scoring my life for the past two years.
My introduction to the duo left my feet floating through the streets of Houston, Texas. I would bring their sound back to Austin, using the entirety of their 2012 EP, Red Light District, to help my heart sing.
There is truth in the claim good things come to those who wait. Drummer Logan Grimé and singer/guitarist Skyler Kilborn are finally ready to tease new music.
Their first single, “Tidal Wave,” is a powerful, punchy track poised to recalibrate our eager hearts. Kilborn’s unmistakable voice and guitar reverberates in your ears, throat, and ribcage. The video is a spellbinding wormhole that deserves streaming. This band is so worthy of your attention.
Midi Matilda, for all intents and purposes, is a small act: Two talented gentlemen, an EP, a single, a drum kit. But there is so much more depth and discovery within this duo’s falsettos, pensive lyrics, and refreshing loyalty to their craft. These men are positioned to narrate our lives. Their music belongs in don’t-you-dare-blink car commercials, the hazy summer air around beachside bonfires, drowning out last calls, and the backseat of your car. Midi Matilda is meant for more, and the time is now.
They are already permanently bound within my heart, and for that I’m forever thankful. I have a whole new outlook that needs a soundtrack.
It would be wise for you to follow, stream, swipe, and share whatever this band creates. Trust we’ll be doing the same.
