Okay, so there's a lot going on here. Like, a lot.
First, a blindingly optimistic musical arc -- here more Japanese than EDM -- but all really emerging from the same impetus. Add scratchy, stitched-up, dream-pop synths that recede in moments of clarity or excitement. And, finally, toss in those friendly yet heavily distorted male vocals we can all vaguely recall hearing before.
I'm not quite sure what this all adds up to, but I feel there are such clear moments of promise in this song. This is certainly more than the sum of East meets West aesthetics and experimentations, but I think these fusions are only going to increase...and we're going to hear some truly fascinating hybridizations.
I'll be closely following Maltine Records, because I'm intrigued and maybe you will be too.
