I've been a supporter of Mark Johns on Indie Shuffle for awhile now, charting her rise from being a featured singer on tracks by Lemaitre and more recently featuring her own original work.
When she released her debut EP last month, I went looking for it's best track to share with you all. It was a great opportunity to explore her work a little more fully. I kinda flopped and changed on which one I liked best, and finally settled on the title track "Molino."
The track speaks to what it was like for Johns when she moved to to the bright lights of L.A. I like Johns because she's edgy and doesn't fit the stereotypical mold of a singer-songwriter who lives in L.A. She's doing something right because her rise was also noticed by Skrillex and his team at OWSLA—Johns is the first and only solo singer to be signed to his label.
