Sounding more Malcolm James McCormick then ever, Mac Miller is really starting to prove to the world that he is not just a rapper, but a truly talented musician.
We first got a glimpse of his style change off his recent project
You, in which he recorded music
under the moniker Larry Lovenstein. The experimental jazz/hip-hop LP was met with mixed reviews. I think it's safe to say that those who appreciate progression and development of an artist enjoyed that project. This group of people will also be down with the vibe of "Objects in the Mirror." The same may not ring true for the swag-skater-squids who highly endorsed
Blue Slide Park, his economically successful but artistically lackluster debut major-label album.
These days, the kid has his own MTV reality show and is a bonafide superstar, but it's Most Dope to see that he is still primarily focused on making fresh music, pleasing his musically intelligent fan base, and innovating his craft.
Keep an ear out for his sophomore album,
Watching Movies with the Sound Off, due out June 18.
