I can safely say that Melbourne's LUCIANBLOMKAMP is one of the most exciting, talented artists in Australian electronic music today. Every time he releases a track, be it original or remix, I'm completely blown away. By the rhythms and the layers, by the progression and the melodies, and above all, the absolute originality of it all.
"From Afar" is his brand new one, picked fresh for your listening pleasure. It's just shy of four minutes, but it's so entrancing that it feels a lot longer.
The track begins with a basic beat and a wispy, airy melody. Instrumental layers -- even the simplest melodic droplets -- add so much color to the vast sound. Conversely, thick, jarring distortion and building rhythms intertwine with strings and twinkling synths.
The bottomless atmosphere is dense, increasingly powerful and wholly captivating. I'd recommend listening to it a few times in a row.
