Seeing a live Bassnectar set at least once should be part of everyone's livelihood curriculum, similar to going to school or getting a job. The capacity at which Bassnectar, aka Lorin Ashton, delivers raw and filthy bass that reverberates your body is an experience words cannot describe. Pair all that with Bassnectar's long haired-head-banging character and intense energy, and you've got one entertaining show.
Such was the case when I recently saw him perform at the Fox Theater in Oakland, where he kicked off his Immersive Music tour and blew away crowds. The multifaceted bassline pioneer showcased all of classics to his new five-track EP
Take You Down, which, in his words, he describes the idea of it as:
"Take You Down" was put together as a summertime jam"¦ something deep and lush and euphoric. I started it while I was on vacation, and the general theme is basically falling in love and that slow-motion feeling you get when you plunge backwards into something overwhelming, but never hit the ground. With pulsing chords, emotive synths, and heavy 808s, it's a sonic follow-up to "Timestretch,"
So, if you have yet to see a live Bassnectar set, be sure to get on that ASAP. Check out his Immersive Music tour dates
