There’s no doubt about it, Lettuce’s latest jam is pure funk. Which of course is unsurprising from the unabashedly self-proclaimed classic funk band that prides themselves on “matching their smooth and soulful grooves with a hip-hop-inspired urgency and mastery of beat.” Between the energetic trumpets and vibrant bass, you’ll need to pull a James Brown and get up out offa that thing.
“The Love You Left Behind” graces us with the powerful vocals of Alecia Chakour, who has worked with Lettuce before and is currently a vocalist with the Tedeschi Trucks Band. Her soulful crooning really meshes with the dynamic instrumentals.
This is the first track off of Lettuce's just-released EP Mount Crushmore, which contains new songs and B-sides from recording sessions of their 2015 album Crush. Lettuce also recently announced their 2017 tour schedule if you want to see some of these groovy rhythms live.
