Why do we like this?

I'm a bit blown away by 17-year-old German producer LAIRE, who approached me via email, hyping tracks titled "Vanished" and "Nobodies."

They're both wavy, break-heavy trap beats that will remind you of Clams Casino and Crystal Castles. "Vanished" hits me harder, feeling equal parts old and new. I've heard something like this beat before, but I've never heard LAIRE's version before tonight. In a word—wow.
