Why do we like this?
L U N A R B O Y $ is a new collaboration between Colorado-based producers Wilson Rains and Marcus Gamboa, otherwise known as Dubz P and brothel respectively. After digging around on SoundCloud, I discovered that “WEST” was first posted by Rains last year. So the instrumental may not be new, but it’s still super fresh.
“WEST” makes beautiful use of King Floyd’s 1971 soul record “Please Don't Leave Me Lonely.” King Floyd’s become a popular sample in hip-hop / electronic circles thanks to acts like Wu-Tang Clan and Butch Clancy. L U N A R B O Y $ may release new music down the road, or maybe Rains and Gamboa were just looking for a new outlet through which to hype "WEST." Either way, good music is good music.
