Why do we like this?
This past weekend, I got the privilege to watch Kutmah DJ in Ireland... after not seeing him for over two years (fuck you very much ICE). I was instantly reminded of the unique vision the man brings to playing records. It's no dickriding to say Kootz could play records you've heard several dozen times in a way that makes them feel new.
Rather than losing his footing being outside of his hometown, Kutmah has sharpened his already impressive skills. He still has the ear for weird and oddly beautiful sounds, and still doesn't let most tracks play out past a minute or so. His beats continue to be underrated, but I have a feeling that will change soon.
"This IZWID Moment" is a 4am beat, the sound of first light after a long night and a few spliffs. Keep your ears tuned to this man, you won't be dissapointed.
