Canadian rapper Kavale's long awaited project, Carpe Diem, has finally dropped and it's a beauty.
The 10-track mixtape is a journey through Toronto soundscapes, trap-infused bangers, and emotive production, with Kavale's honest and personal lyrics telling the young rapper's story.
"This project was about closing a chapter in my life," Kavale said over email. "Inspired by good and bad moments, I used the music as an outlet to tell just a part of my story."
From the 808s heavy "M.I.A." to the Drake-esqu "Need Somethin" and the relationship tale "Perfect/Will You," Carpe Diem is full of highlights, but "Ocean's" has to be close to the best.
The tapes final track finds Kavale rapping over a somber beat and, in his words, is about "doing whatever he can for the people he loves."
