This track quite literally rocks. It’s packed with blazing guitar riffs, growling vocals and general bad-assery. It kicks like a fast-paced version of BRMC’s “Ain't No Easy Way” mixed with the gritty lo-fi sound of Thickfreakness-era Black Keys (which I highly suggest if you enjoy this track).
“No Good” is a relentless four-minute onslaught of boot-stomp blues. With Kaleo’s hybrid sound, I assumed upon first listen that this band was from the US. Wrong. They’re from Iceland. Somewhat of an anomaly in their country, the band has established a significant following and is slowly beginning their international takeover.
The next time you find yourself in a dive bar surrounded by stoic, bearded men in leather jackets, down a shot of Jack Daniel’s and throw this on. Chaos is sure to ensue. Alternatively, if you're not keen on bar fights, blast this through your speakers and dance till you give yourself whiplash.
Catch "No Good" on this week's episode of HBO's Vinyl, and check out the band's US tour dates here.
