Meet Kakkmaddafakka, a high-energy band from Norway best known for their upbeat, danceable creations. Based out of Bergen, the band was formed by two brothers who recruited two school friends (all classically trained) to play one gig as Kakkmaddafakka at a youth center. Their performance was received so well that they decided to pursue the project
and it looks as though things have been working in their favor! The Norwegian press has called them "New Bergen Wave."
This single, "Restless," is taken from their second LP, Hest. It wastes no time getting down to some funky business with a fast-paced drum beat and plucked electric guitars. Kakkmaddafakka's lyrics are in English, which makes this song even more fun to sing along to.
You can tell just by listening to this song that these guys are classically trained. Along with being a fast-paced song, it's also intricately constructed; they barely give it a rest. The punchy piano is a wonderful accent to their indie rock feel.
It's obvious that making catchy, infectious music comes naturally to these guys. I highly suggest you check out their full length album, Hest (SO timelessly indie rock), and the music video for this single.
As for a U.S. tour (apparently their live show is electrifying), there aren't any in sight. Womp wooomp. But you never know! If they keep ambitiously producing hits like this one, they might be over here before you know it.
