My good friend, DJ Swivel, was recently on a favorite show of mine for his accomplishments as a mix engineer. He stated that honesty in songs today is what people are gravitating towards. He couldn't have been more right.
JUTE$ gives us some of that honesty in his latest release: "In My Dreams," featuring a very fitting rap by noey.
"In My Dreams" is a tune about the fear of being one's self in an industry whose fans applaud facades. It's the tragic battle that most musicians have probably fought, mentally, at some point, even if they didn't entertain it much.
It's sort of sad that our society is still so naive that it can rarely distinguish true art from the phony. But what really is true art?
For me, true art is the raw emotion you transfer to your work. That's it.
