Why do we like this?
Listening to Jamie xx's Essential Mix reminded me of this house anthem of the early 00s.
Everything about this track -- the Daft Punk style vocals, the filters, and especially the artists name -- scream France. But you'd be wrong if you guessed he was a Frenchie. Jean Jacques Smoothie is in fact the alias of a UK-based producer. However, it was his attempt at the French sound that catapulted him to worldwide popularity, and it's this which we are now remembering him for.
So take a minute and listen to this and dance like it's 2001 again!
