As sun-bleached guitar melodies begin to make the boundaries between tropical house and deep house bleed together, we are presented with a refreshing sound courtesy of L.A.'s Jamie Prado.
The artist, who has recently kicked off his own label Midnight in Paris, is currently making the rounds with his most recent EP Return to Indio which features sounds and aesthetics inspired by the quality vibes present each year in the Indio Desert at a little known festival called Coachella.
The track "Celio" is an optimistic, ear-to-ear smile of a tune that exchanges Prado's signature loungey sound for something more tropical, more outdoorsy, and absolutely beautiful. And while it's definitely more mainstream than his previous work, as this track aligns him more with artists like Sam Feldt than his underground work does, that's not to say it's without merit; in fact, the pure joy this tune brings out and effort to encapsulate a place as magical as Coachella is to recognized. Very few tracks can imitate a time and place. "Celio" achieves this with grace.
