Why do we like this?
This new Imogen Heap track is being billed as the first "audio 3D song." They've recommended that when listening to this single, you use headphones. So, here I'm sitting with my headphones, listening on full blast. And frankly, I'm wondering when the 3D part arrives?
Dissecting it a bit more, it's certainly very well layered and produced. But it lacks a lot of the structure and "umph" I'm used to when hearing Imogen Heap. And of course, on top of that, there's the 3D element. How the heck do you add 3 dimensions to a song? If the objective is to get the music to sound like it's coming from all over, haven't computer games and movies been doing that for a decade now? In which case, aren't we all a little desensitized by now?
All-in-all, it's a pretty song, albeit a little underwhelming.
